This website is a collection of images and video I have collated during a year working on the sub-Antarctic Island of South Georgia. I am trying to gradually upload these files but our internet connection is very slow. As such it will take a while before all the links work.
The images on this site have been taken with either a canon 7D or a 5D MK II. The original files are large and can be blown up to fine art quality, however for the sake of upload speed the files on this site are small. I am in the process of uploading a selection of images to Photobox and Fineartamerica, should anyone want a copy of an image then please feel free to contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Current Photography Projects
(1) Night Sky Images
For the last six months I have become fairly obsessed with night sky photogaphy. My location, over 900 miles from any night pollution makes for some stunning night skies. Capturing the scene through the lens of a camera posses a number of technical issues and I have been enjoying the challenge of astrophotography. Through trial and error, a lot of cold late nights and early mornings I have amassed a lot of images, some with more success than others. I have started to sell some of the prints through the SG museum and online. All of the profit will go to the rat eradication project. Friends and family please contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for the password to the discount gallery on photobox).
(2) Exploring South Georgia
I am currently working on a number of photographic projects. As well as night sky photography I am trying to create a photographic means of exploring South Georgia. My aim is to upload images of my local area and combine them with interactive 360 panoramas and short video clips so that people back home can get an idea of how truly amazing South Georgia is. (Though it has occured to me that a much better way of doing this would just be to watch frozen planet!)
The section of the website dedicated to exploring south georgia is under the tab South Georgia and is most definately a work in progress. I will upload more and more as my internet connection allows.
(3) Changing Seasons
I have found that there are several places that I seem to like taking photos. On reviewing my image library I have realised that I have the same vista at different times of the year. South Georgia is visited by thousands of tourists in the summer but gets few winter tourists. I am currently putting together a selection of winter / summer images from the same view point to show the dramatic differences between the seasons.
(4) South Georgia Photo Book: a year on the island in pictures.
COMING SOON: a photobook with a collection of my best images throughout my year on the island.
